IRecently, I’ve been facilitating strategic planning workshops with school leaders and I have found the ‘underlying dynamics’ a powerful lens for understanding what good strategic planning really requires.
Rather than a few people developing a plan on others’ behalf, ToP methods use the underlying dynamics to shift the focus onto the process: enabling genuine participation, drawing out new ideas, and building real commitment.
Classic ToP strategic processes combined with tools and techniques that responded to the group dynamics resulted in a full and constructive day of shared perspectives, creativity, consideration and clarification of where to go and how to get there.
The ToP consensus workshop method brought meaning into end of season debrief sessions, allowing The Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust team members to identify themes, make sense of these and notice changes over 2 years.
